New Zealand

I love New Zealand. It’s one of my favorite places to travel to and spend time. Most of the year I get pretty homesick from all the traveling, but every summer I look forward to spending time in NZ. When I first arrived I didn’t have internet at the place I was staying at, hence the lack of internet activity, but I’m not staying at my friend Stefi’s house so at last a post!

I competed in the Burton NZ Open the first week I was here, but didn’t do so well. I actually fell in semis and didn’t make finals which was out of character for me. It’s been a long time since I haven’t made finals at an event, but sometimes you have off days and you just have to move on. I did just that by shredding at SnowPark with Kiwi girls Stefi Luxton, Possum Torr and English sensation Aimee Fuller. I’m super stoked on the up and coming girls in snowboarding right now, they’re all so hungry and stoked to ride. SnowPark’s set up has been all time this year and I’ve been having so much fun riding there. The weather has actually been really good besides a four day storm that came through mid trip, other than that we’ve been lucky to have mostly blue bird days.

Other than shredding I’ve spent my time going to the gym, running, drinking copious amounts of flat whites and eating out at the numerous cafes around town. It’s been super fun hanging with the girls and getting to just shred for fun. Loving it! One night last week Possum invited Stefi, Aimee and myself to go to Queenstown to her friend’s vineyard for dinner. Amisfield is beautiful and the food was wonderful. Thanks to Kim and Jeanie for having us, it was a really fun night out with the girls.

I’m here for one more week and then it’s back to Canada. Here’s some photos of my trip so far. Also check out the edit that Fuller made from one of the first days we were here.

Talk soon,

S.
