Hintertux
October 14th, 2011
For the past few seasons I’ve been hearing a lot about a glacier in Austria called Hintertux. All the euros flock there each fall to get in a bit more training before winter. I decided to check it out for myself this year and booked a flight shortly after I got home from NZ. The first three days were prime conditions. Good jumps, bluebird, slushy and a solid crew. Almost all of the European Nike 6 crew is in town with me and Sage Kotsenberg thrown in for good measure. We all had a ton of fun the first few days but have spent the last week chilling due to bad weather and a closed park. We made due with the down days by going to the gym, playing tennis, rock climbing and a day trip to Munich. No matter which way you cut it though, four down days followed by three days of an unfinished park isn’t ideal when you’re on a two week shred trip. We’ve made due though and I’ve actually had a lot of fun hanging out with the crew and getting to know everyone better. It’s been to nice to just hang out with everyone outside of a shoot or a contest. Nike has a pretty solid team and I’m super stoked to be apart of it. Some snowboarding would be good though and I’ve got two more days of riding before heading home. The weather forecast is looking good so fingers crossed we get to send it this weekend. I’m waiting to see a front sevey from TM Jon Weaver…
Talk soon,
S.
