I spent last week riding at High Cascade Snowboard Camp in Mt.Hood, OR. This was my second summer doing a Signature Session and once again I shared the session with the FRENDS crew, Elena Hight and Leanne Pelosi. The first few days on hill were epic, the HCSC park is so on point and super fun to shred. They also invested in a brand new Bag Jump which is pretty much a summer camp staple these days and Leanne’s favorite thing to shred on hill by far. It was hard to pull her away from it to shred a few laps hah. By day three the weather started to turn and I ended up tweaking my neck super bad so I took the following day off and went to the thrift store and movies with some campers. I chose wrong on the movie and went to see ‘The Green Lantern’ instead of ‘Super 8′. I hadn’t heard great things about ‘Super 8′ and I generally have a thing for superhero/comic book movies and I definitely have a thing for Ryan Reynolds so I rolled the dice with ‘The Green Lantern’. Ryan, you did your country a disservice by starring in that piece of crap. You make a fine superhero and Blake Lively makes a decent love interest, but wow, that was just bad. Aliens that look like pug dogs and fish who defend the universe that’s powered by fear and will power? Yeah not buying it.
The next day I was feeling a bit better and stoked to go ride again, but I woke up to a whole lot of Northwest rain followed by an announcement that the mountain was closed. Elena and I decided to spend the day in Portland with Gabi Viteri who had just arrived from Hawaii. We spent the day shopping, eating and catching up, it was a nice retreat from Govy life and a great way to forget the rain.
That night was our Signature All Girls foam pitt session but due to the rain we had to improvise. We decided to do Charades and were scared that no one would show up or that it would be super lame. We were wrong. So much fun. The girls were hilarious and me and birthday girl Jessa had some sort of supernatural connection because homegirl guessed everything I had without me even doing anything. In the end Elena and Leanne’s team won, but we all had a blast and laughed our asses off for a few hours. All the girls also walked away with awesome Nike 6 and Volcom swag. The last few days on hill were super fun and super sunny! A perfect end to an awesome week at High Cascade. Thanks to Preston and the crew for having me and to all the campers for making my week so much fun. I can’t wait to come back next summer.
For a last minute treat I decided to hit up Modest Mouse on my last night in Gresham, OR with Gabi and Chip. Chip works at Burton in bindings and he invited me along to the show. Gabs got a ticket last minute and joined us. It was my second time seeing Modest Mouse and they were much better than the first. I’ve always loved their music but this made me stoked on them again. Thanks to Chip for the invite, it was great to see you buddy! It was a lovely evening with two great people and a perfect ending to my trip.
Talk soon,
